COMMERCIAL FISH SCALER (PRO 30)
HEAVY DUTY ELECTRIC SCALING SYSTEM
All you need to scale tons of fish per day... and it is easy to use. The Northrock Pro 30 Commercial Fish Scaler is the industry standard for wholesale markets, processing plants, and grocery counters. Designed and made in the USA, this system features a powerful 1/3 HP motor and a flexible drive shaft system that separates the weight of the motor from the operator’s hand, reducing fatigue during high-volume scaling.
- Powerful Motor: The 1/3 HP motor is enclosed in an attractive, high-impact nylon molded cover that resists corrosion and damp environments. Available in 115v or 220v configurations.
- Ergonomic Design: An overhead mounting hook allows for easy installation above the workstation. A stainless steel hanger holds the handpiece securely when the power is off, keeping the tool clean and accessible.
- Corrosion Resistant Handpiece: The handle grip is manufactured from high-quality corrosion-resistant aluminum. The internal drive shaft is constructed of rugged stainless steel, and two sealed ball bearings provide smooth operation and long life.
- Flexible Shaft Technology: Constructed with rubber-coated steel braiding to prevent stretching. Stainless steel fittings prevent rust and corrosion.
- Maintenance Free: The motor and handpiece use sealed bearings which require no maintenance over their lifespan..
- Safety First: Features a water-resistant switch seal and proper grounding to protect the operator in wet environments.

Northrock System Builder
Industrial Fish Scaling
Process tons of fish per day with zero maintenance downtime.
Species-Specific Geometry
Don't damage your product. The system utilizes interchangeable heads, allowing you to swap between the Diamond Tooth for Salmon and Snapper, or the Six Flute for thick-scaled Carp and Grouper.
Zero-Maintenance Bearings
Keep your line running. Both the motor and the handpiece feature permanently sealed ball bearings that require absolutely no maintenance over their entire lifespan.
Water-Safe Electrical
Designed for wet processing environments. The unit features a specialized water-resistant switch seal and a fully grounded three-conductor cord system to protect operators from shock hazards.
Corrosion Resistant Build
Salt and water are no match. The motor is encased in a high-impact nylon cover, while the handpiece is crafted from corrosion-resistant aluminum with a rugged stainless steel drive shaft.
Floating Weight Design
Eliminate operator fatigue. The overhead mounting hook separates the heavy motor from the operator, allowing you to work freely holding only the lightweight, knurled anti-slip handpiece.
Heavy-Duty Flexible Shaft
Power is transmitted through a rubber-coated steel braided shaft with a hardened steel inner liner. Available in Standard (5/16") or Heavy Duty (3/8") cores.
Fully Serviceable Design
From bearings to brushes, we stock every component shown in your manual. Keep your Pro 30 running for decades with genuine OEM replacement parts.

Download Parts ManualHow do I choose the right scaling head?
The Diamond Tooth Tool comes standard and works for 90% of fish like Salmon, Snapper, and Bass. If you are scaling fish with very thick scales (Carp, Grouper), upgrade to the Six Flute Tool and the Large Guard to prevent clogging. For delicate fish like Trout, use the Eight Flute Tool to avoid tearing the skin.
What maintenance does the machine require?
Very little. The motor and handpiece bearings are permanently sealed and need no maintenance. The only requirement is to lubricate the flexible inner core shaft every 50 hours of use. Simply slide the core out, wipe off old grease, and apply a light coat of Northrock Shaft Lubricant.
Is this unit safe for wet environments?
Yes. The Pro 30 is designed for commercial processing environments. It features a water-resistant switch seal , a corrosion-resistant aluminum handpiece , and a high-impact nylon motor housing. Always ensure the unit is plugged into a properly grounded outlet
Can I run this on standard power?
Yes. The standard Pro 30 operates on 115V (standard wall plug). A 220V version is available for industrial facilities with high-voltage lines.
What is the difference between Standard and Heavy Duty shafts?
The Standard Duty shaft uses a 5/16" core and is suitable for most daily commercial scaling. The Heavy Duty shaft uses a thicker 3/8" core and is recommended for continuous, high-volume industrial production lines where the unit runs non-stop
Why is my scaler clogging?
If you are scaling large-scaled fish (like Carp or Buffalo) with the standard guard, scales can get trapped. We recommend switching to the Large Guard (Part #270A4), which provides extra clearance for large scales to flush out easily.
